Origin
Italia or 65 Pirovano was obtained in 1911 by Angelo Pirovano by crossbreeding Bicane with Muscat de Hambourg.
Synonyms
In Croatia, Italia is officially designated as "Muskat italija". This synonym is officially recognized in France regarding plant propagation material.

Descriptive elements
The identification is based on:
- the tip of the young shoot with a high density of prostrate hairs,
- the yellow and shiny young leaves,
- the circular adult leaves, with five lobes, an open, slightly open or closed U-shaped petiole sinus, large teeth with convex sides, no anthocyanin coloration of veins, a slightly blistered leaf blade, involute, curly on the edges, and on the lower side of the leaves, a low density of erect and prostrate hairs,
- the ellipsoid berries with a slightly muscat or a simple flavor.

Grape maturity: late-season, 4 weeks after Chasselas.
Suitability for cultivation and agronomic production
Italia has very strong vigor and a semi-erect bearing. This variety must be trained and pruned long.
Susceptibility to diseases and pests
Italia is sensitive to downy mildew and grey rot.
Technological potentiality
The bunches are very large, conical-shaped, moderately compact with large to very large berries. The skins are moderately thick with a firm and juicy pulp and the berries have a pleasant flavor. Italia has a good storage and transport capacity.
